Welcome to the Bytey FAQ! 🎉


Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about using Bytey’s features. If you don’t see your question answered here—or if you run into a bug—please email us at hi@byteyapp.com and we’ll be happy to help.



Lottery


What is the Bytey Lottery?


The Bytey Lottery gives you a chance to win exclusive deals from nearby restaurants. Currently available around UCLA, the lottery runs twice a day—once for lunch and once for dinner.


When can I enroll?


  • Lunch: Opens at 10:30 AM PT

  • Dinner: Opens at 4:30 PM PT


Each session closes either when 50 users have enrolled or after one hour, whichever comes first.


When are results announced?


  • Lunch: By 11:30 AM PT

  • Dinner: By 5:30 PM PT


What happens if I win?


Winners have 15 minutes to place their orders.


What if I don’t win?


You’ll still get a complimentary card as a consolation.


Can I join multiple lotteries in a day?


Yes! You can join as many as you’d like, but you can only win once per day.



Cards


What are Bytey Cards?


Bytey Cards are fun collectibles you earn while using the app. Each season features 9 card sets across 2 themes, with 9 cards per set.


What do I get for completing a set?


Complete a full set to unlock a coupon for non-lottery orders:


  • Green Set: $3 off

  • Blue Set: $5 off

  • Purple Set: $7 off

  • Gold Set: $10 off

  • Red Set: Free meal (up to $20)


How can I earn cards?


  • Opening card packs (each pack = 3 random cards)

  • Completing tasks

  • Placing orders


What if I get a duplicate card?


Duplicates turn into Shards, which you can use to craft missing cards (shard cost depends on rarity).


Do shards expire?


Yes, unused shards expire at the end of each season.



Rewards


What’s on the Rewards page?


The Rewards page includes Weekly Tasks and Achievements.


Weekly Tasks


  • 8 tasks refreshed every Monday

  • Complete any 5 to unlock a weekly chest

  • Tasks vary by user


Achievements


  • Same for all users

  • Can only be completed once

  • New ones will be added over time


What can I earn?


XP, card packs, badges, and more. Keep completing new tasks to grow your rewards!



Collections


How do I save restaurants?


Tap the heart icon to favorite a restaurant. Bytey will add smart tags automatically, but you can also create your own custom tags.


How can I organize my favorites?


  • Group multiple tags into Tag Groups to filter your saved spots.

  • Manage tags by tapping Edit on a restaurant page or by visiting All Tags → Show all tags.


What are Smart Collections?


Bytey automatically generates smart lists based on your preferences. These update regularly—tap the star to save any list you like.



Tiers


What are Bytey Tiers?


Tiers are levels you earn by collecting XP or placing orders. Each new tier unlocks a chest with rewards.


How do I earn XP?


By ordering food, completing tasks, and more.


What benefits do higher tiers bring?


  • Priority customer service

  • Early access to exclusive features

  • Special gifts and surprises
